Opening Church Update & Change to advertised opening

Things are now moving on apace and you will have seen more relaxing of rules this week, which for us in Filey includes the opening for private prayer as well as weddings and possibly funerals too.

To this end we are now working toward opening St Oswald’s Church for private prayer starting as soon as we are able. However, unfortunately Sandra our cleaner has broken her ankle and we are now bringing a team of people together to focus on getting church ready for opening. This includes not only cleaning but a lot of other preparatory work needs to be done. This also means we may NOT be open for private prayer on 4th July.

We will only open once we can do so confidently and with the right help in place. Eventually we hope to open on Wednesdays and Saturdays 10.30am – 12.30pm (BUT ONLY if we can get prepared and have the helpers available)!!

St John’s will remain closed for the time being.

With most of our volunteer base being over 70 or with other issues we cannot simply swing open the doors. There is cleaning to do, preparing for one way systems, socially distanced prayer stations, resources available for prayer, signs, and anti-bacterial gel etc and of course the Risk Assessments to enable us to open safely and think through how we are going to facilitate people coming in to church.

If you are able and willing to help get St Oswald’s Church ready or able to help manage our opening hours, please would you get in touch with Angela 518210 or Nigel 512645 / 07434 651658. Without help we simply cannot open!
